Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics

-MAMI interpreters follow National Interpreter Code of Ethics of the National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC);

-MAMI interpreters know terminology and relevant cultural issues;

-At a minimum, MAMI interpreters complete our 80-hour medical interpreting training course;

-Many MAMI interpreters have complete courses on Legal / Police Interpreting for Survivors of Domestic / Sexual Violence.

-MAMI Interpreter Assessment program
*MAMI Competency Exam based on one being developed for Massachusetts by the MMIA.

*Eventually, New York State Certification Exam
-Since 1998, MAMI has served on the Board and Advisory committee of the National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC)
